Microsoft Calendar

This DDF enables upcoming events from Microsoft 365 to be used as a trigger for room automation.

A typical use case is the automatic preparation of a meeting room. For example, the heating can be configured to bring the room to the desired temperature before a scheduled event starts. Depending on the available room control system, other functions such as ventilation or lighting can also be activated in advance.

The Event Upcoming trigger is activated when an upcoming event is detected for a configured room. The action triggered by this event is defined in the room control system.

Room control > Buttons/Contacts > Contact of presence > Event Upcoming

Requirements

The following requirements must be met to use this DDF:

  • Microsoft 365 with the corresponding room/calendar information
  • an application registered in Microsoft Entra ID with the required permissions to access Microsoft 365
  • Tenant ID of the Microsoft 365 environment
  • Client ID of the registered application
  • Client Secret of the registered application
  • the email address(es) of the Microsoft 365 rooms or calendars whose events should be considered

Controller Configuration

Configuration is performed directly in the Device Station:

Parameter Description Example
SLAVE Email address(es) of the Microsoft 365 rooms or calendars whose events should be monitored. Multiple addresses are separated by commas. meetingroom1@company.com,meetingroom2@company.com
TENANTID Unique ID of the Microsoft 365 tenant. xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
CLIENTID ID of the application registered in Microsoft Entra ID that is used to access Microsoft 365. xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
SECRET Client Secret of the registered application used for authentication with Microsoft 365. ••••••••••••••••

Up to 30 email addresses can be entered for SLAVE, provided that the maximum character limit is not exceeded. The SLAVE entry is limited to 250 characters.

The GETSLAVESROOMS command in the Device Station can be used to automatically retrieve the available rooms from Microsoft Places.

Element Device Configuration

In the Element Device, the Info group can be linked to the corresponding element.

Usage

After successful configuration, the DDF monitors the events of the rooms or calendars configured under SLAVE.

When an upcoming event is detected, the Event Upcoming trigger becomes available for room automation. The room control system can then be used to activate functions such as pre-heating, ventilation or lighting.

This allows the room automation to respond to planned room usage before an event starts while avoiding unnecessary energy consumption outside of usage periods.
